News Update - 5/19/2010

Production is starting soon on an unscripted television pilot entitled, “The Dealership”. The show will center on the goings on of a small group of offbeat salesmen while they interact with customers, themselves, and their fiery and passionate employer who owns the used car dealership.

The show is being developed by Executive Producer, Benjamin Jacobsen who says, “The show is going to be intriguing as it sort of lifts the misconception people have of the used car salesman being a snake and a shyster. The guys at Motors Northwest are good and fun people who not only sell cars together but do a host of other things together which includes a karate class.”

Jacobsen says the tone of the show will be a familiar one: “… when I’m over there observing them interact, I get this feeling as if I’m living through a real life episode of “the Office”. I am sure a lot of that will transfer onto the pilot. These guys have known each other for a lot of years and have worked together for years. They have a natural chemistry with each other that will be inviting for the audience.”

What are the chances of it being more than just a pilot? Jacobsen is optimistic: “Obviously, you know, the goal is to get a television deal. Basic cable has become a great place to shop this sort of concept with the move by a lot of those networks toward interesting unscripted shows. You’ve got shows ranging from a pawn shop to bikers saving animals to people investigating ghosts to people getting tattooed. America likes the theme of taking people you thought were one way and showing what they really are. I think there is a market out there for another one of those shows.’

‘On the other hand if we don’t get picked up, we have this all other medium of the internet to promote our show. You have video content on sites like Youtube, Daily Motion, Hulu, and etc. and who says that those companies wouldn’t be interested in exclusive content soon. I have the philosophy that if you do a great job and create an interesting show, you will be able to find an audience for it.”
